Peran pendidikan kewarganegaraan (PKn) untuk generasi muda Indonesia

Abstract
Tujuan penulisan ini menemukan peran Pendidikan kewarganegaraan dalam membimbing generasi muda dalam menjalankan hidupnya. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa adanya Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan memiliki peran yang penting dalam membentuk karakter pribadi generasi muda. Pendidikan kewarganegaraan (PKn) adalah program pendidikan berdasarkan nilai- nilai pancasila sebagai wahana untuk mengembangkan dan melestarikan nilai luhur dan moral yang berakar pada budaya bangsa Indonesia yang diharapkan menjadi jati diri yang diwujudkan dalam bentuk prilaku dalam kehidupan sehari-hari baik sebagai individu, anggota masyarakat dan makhluk ciptaan Tuhan Yang Maha Esa. Pendidikan kewarganegaraan dimaksudkan untuk membangun warga Negara yang baik (good citizenship) yaitu bukan hanya warga negara yang patuh terhadap aturan- aturan hukum yang berlaku, tetapi juga warga negara yang bersifat demokratis dan menjunjung tinggi hak asasi manusia. Karakter yang dimaksud tentu saja karakter yang berpedoman pada nilai luhur bangsa yakni Pancasila. Karakter kewarganegaraan baik untuk pribadi maupun masyarakat Indonesia adalah karakter yang didasarkan atas nilai-nilai Pancasila. Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan diberikan kepada peserta didik supaya dapat menjadikan mereka warga Negara yang baik. Bagaimanakah pendidikan kewarganegaraan berperan dalam pembangunan dan pengembangan karakter dalam diri generasi muda, tentu dapat terjawab jika kontribusi yang diberikan pendidikan kewarganegaraan berhasil mengarahkan generasi muda saat ini untuk berpartisipasi mengusung karakter bangsa. Dalam hal ini pendidikan kewarganegaraan merupakan suatu alat pasif untuk membangun dan memajukan sistem demokrasi suatu bangsa
